An On-Line Active Learning Approach to Continuing Education for Swine Veterinarians

ADVET is a unique approach to continuing veterinary education that combines active, collaborative and interactive learning with a convenient online format. The ADVET – Swine program is directed toward all types and levels of swine practitioners who would like to learn approaches and solutions to important issues facing the swine industry today. This program aims to provide knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied to the everyday practice of veterinary medicine. Participants will learn from their peers across the country as well as experts in swine health and management at the University of Minnesota. ADVET is considered to be interactive continuing education. The ADVET – Swine courses will be 2 week short-courses requiring 2-3 hours of interactive online work as well as additional background reading. Continuing education credits will vary per course but will range from 4-6 credits.

Dr. Davies is a Professor in the Population Medicine Department at the University of Minnesota,. He is a veterinary epidemiologist who has been involved in swine health research since 1987, with a focus on the epidemiology of infectious diseases, including foodborne pathogens and zoonoses.
